A Great Year Ahead

fireworks2015 was truly a year of growing pains for a lot of us in the Body of Christ. We all had to face some very difficult, yet necessary, challenges this past year. The thing we must be intentional about doing is remembering that it was all to prepare us for a great and adventurous year in 2016. The challenges we face presents us with two opportunities. One is an opportunity to learn from them whether we feel like we passed or failed the challenge presented to us. An opportunity to use them as stepping stones to reaching the fullness of what God has in store for us. The other is an opportunity to get so focused on the challenge or the result of the challenge that we miss the lesson that’s to be learned within the challenge regardless go the outcome. James 1:2-4 says, “2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” This scripture was one I had to repeatedly go to in 2015. It was a time of learning how to count it all joy when I didn’t see a way out, when I was doubtful of God’s ability to provide, when extremely difficult choices had to be made. In my failures and successes I have grown in my trust in God’s sovereignty and His will for my life. I’ve grown in the understanding that having faith in Him isn’t always going to be easy, but it’s worth it because He knows what He’s doing. All of this to produce patience, and I believe that 2016 will be a year where verse 4 comes to life in our lives. This will be a year where our Father is going to complete us making us perfect in Him, and we will lack in nothing. Naturally we think monetary things when looking at this verse. Although I believe finances are apart of this I believe our Father wants to give us more than money. Money comes and goes in the blink of an eye, but love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, wisdom, understanding, compassion, and much more… These are things, I believe, God is looking to impart into the hearts of His people and as long as we genuinely love these things out we lack nothing. Not that we will always have excess, but that we will have exactly what we need when we need it because of the condition of our hearts. I also believe this is the year where more will be required of His people because of the greater responsibility He’s giving His people. Many have been faithful with the little that He’s entrusted us with for years and now He is giving us more. This is not something to get scared of because if He’s giving it to us then He knows that we can handle it. He said that He wouldn’t give us more than we can handle, but the secret here is that we can’t try to do it on our own. Our strength lies in Him and those that He’s given us to partner with to advance His Kingdom. God has established pockets of people throughout the earth who are truly hungry for Him and have sincere desire to see His word come to life on the earth. I believe this will be a year where some of those pockets will link arms with each other requiring everything I talked about God releasing prior to this, but in even greater measures. We will be presented with opportunities to live out John 13:34-35 in a much greater level because we pushed to love those outside of church family and eventually outside of our denomination, and it thus love that will draw people to come to Christ. More is going to placed into our hands throughout this year 2016. More prayer, more love, more devotion to God’s word, more time, more passion, more disciple will be required of us. We choose how this year goes. We choose what role we play in the advancement of the Kingdom that will happen this year. Ultimately we choose who’s side we’re on in this year. I look forward to all God has planned for this year as individual and as a member of The Body of Christ. Enjoy the journey my brethren. It will be a great one. Love and Peace
